The Non-Medical Transportation Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services to clients, ensuring timely pick-ups and drop-offs. This role involves assisting clients with mobility needs, maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the vehicle, and delivering excellent customer service.
Position: Non-Medical Transportation Driver
Reports to: Transport Scheduling Coordinator
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Transportation Services
- Safely transport clients to and from various destinations, including appointments, social outings, and errands, ensuring punctuality and adherence to scheduled routes.
- Assist clients in and out of the vehicle, providing additional support as needed, especially for those with mobility challenges.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, including checking fuel, oil, brakes, tires, and lights, to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
- Report any vehicle maintenance or repair needs promptly to the Transportation Manager.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to ensure the safety of clients and the public.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for clients.
Customer Service
- Provide courteous and respectful service to clients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have during the ride.
- Communicate effectively with clients to ensure they feel comfortable and well cared for during their transportation experience.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate trip logs, including pick-up and drop-off times, mileage, and any incidents or delays, utilizing supplied transport software.
- Report any client concerns or incidents to the Transportation Manager in a timely manner.
Other Duties
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed about company policies and procedures.
- Work is primarily performed in a vehicle, with frequent travel to various client locations.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and traffic environments.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a driving role, particularly in a customer service or care environment, is a plus.
Licensure and Certifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willing to obtain upon hire.
- Defensive driving certification is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a commitment to providing excellent care and service to clients.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and assist clients with mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers).
- Ability to sit for extended periods and drive long distances when necessary.
